To: NCFR Members Re: Support of academic freedom and scholarly discourse in Family Science Recently, several authors of NCFR journal articles have become the subject of libel, targeted harassment, and threats of violence. These actions are perpetrated by opportunists seeking to disrupt academic research for political gain and are not forms of scholarly debate from the scientific community. As members of NCFR, it is incumbent upon us to protect each other as scholars and as individuals. We strongly uphold the rights of all of our members to academic freedom. Scholars should be able to engage in the production of knowledge without fear or favor. We condemn personal and political attacks against any and all scholars, and we call for an immediate end to threats of this kind against not only our members, but all members of the broader academic and scientific community.
