Call for Authors
Family Focus on Parenting Education

Decades of research have informed and documented the efficacy of evidence-based parenting education. Still, how is parenting education meeting the emerging needs and challenges that parents and other primary caregivers (e.g., foster parents, grandparents, adoptive parents) are confronting today?

The purpose of the winter 2023 issue of Family Focus, a section of NCFR Report member magazine, is to share with readers what advances have been made, and what gaps exist, in research, practice, and policies related to parenting education.

Authors are encouraged to critically assess how parenting education needs and services vary in age, ability, gender expression, sexual orientation, ethnicity, race, national origin, or immigration status.

Submit your proposals by March 15, 2023, by completing the online proposal form. Final articles are due Jan. 15, 2023.

Zippy's Video of the Week
Relationships Are the Key to Happiness

The Harvard Study of Adult Development, which began in 1938*, is one of the longest-running studies of adult life ever conducted. Eight decades later, and studying the third generations of its original participants, the researchers have arrived at one simple conclusion to what makes people happy.

"Good relationships keep us happier, healthier, and help us live longer," writes Dr. Robert Waldinger, director of the study, in the new book The Good Life: Lessons from the World’s Longest Scientific Study of Happiness. "This is true across the lifespan, and across cultures and contexts, which means it is almost certainly true for you, and for nearly every human being who has ever lived."

In this week's video, Dr. Waldinger chats with CBS reporter Susan Spencer about his research, the new book, and how to strengthen your relationships.
