Please be aware of the Sept. 1-2 deadlines for these NCFR opportunities:

NCFR 2022
2022 NCFR Annual Conference
Opening Plenary: How Stories Build Lives

We are looking forward to seeing everyone at the 2022 NCFR Annual Conference in Minneapolis, Nov. 16–19, 2022, and kicking off with an opening plenary from Kao Kalia Yang, MFA.

Ms. Yang is an award-winning Hmong American author and is the Edelstein-Keller Writer in Residence, University of Minnesota MFA Program. In her plenary, she will reflect on the power of stories in her journey as a writer from a refugee community, and the ways in which narratives have shaped her identity as a daughter, sister, wife, mother, and as artist, teacher, and public speaker.

Thank you to the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign, Department of Human Development and Family Studies for sponsoring the opening plenary.

Join us at the NCFR Conference this year!
  1. Register to attend in-person or virtually (new!)
  2. Add workshops to your registration
  3. Book your hotel and travel arrangements
  4. Sponsorships are still available for plenaries and other opportunities

If you are presenting or have a role at the in-person conference, you must register to attend in-person.

Student Access Grant
The Impact of NCFR's Student Access Grant: Stories of a Difference Made

Make a Donation by Monday, Sept. 12

Thanks to our generous Student Access Grant donors, over $1700 has been raised this year to fund conference registration fees, a travel stipend, and one year of NCFR membership for students from historically marginalized racial communities.

We are close to meeting our goal to provide grants to 4 Students of Color. With your help we can exceed this goal.

If every NCFR member gave $10 we would be able to fund every student who applies this year.

Time to support this important initiative is running out. Please make your donation to the Student Access Grant by Monday, Sept. 12.

Because It Informs Policies & Practices to Support All Families

The work of Family Scientists makes a tremendous impact on how we understand and strengthen family relationships. It informs policies, programs, and practices to support all families — enriching family relationships, creating better public policies for families, and so much more.

That's why Family Science is crucial to address the big societal issues of the 21st century, writes NCFR President Norma J. Bond Burgess, Ph.D., in an article published through COSSA, the Consortium of Social Science Associations.
