Call for Applications NCFR Seeks Editor for Family Relations
NCFR seeks nominations and applications for the position of editor for Family Relations: Interdisciplinary Journal of Applied Family Science (FR).
The term of the current editor, Wendy Middlemiss, Ph.D., CFLE (University of North Texas), will be completed with
the publication of the December 2024 issue.
The four-year term of the new editor will begin January 2024. The first issue will be published in February 2025. The FR Search Committee will review application materials beginning Jan.10, 2023.

NCFR Leadership Opportunities Submit Nominations for NCFR Leadership Positions
Affiliate Councils Board — Apply by Jan. 9 The NCFR Affiliate Council Board has two immediate openings for its executive committee: Student Affiliate Adviser Representative and Affiliate Councils Conference Program Chair.
An election for these two roles will take place in February 2023. If you are interested, please apply by Monday, January 9 to place your name on the ballot! Learn more and apply.
2024 Elections Slate — Nominations due Jan. 31 Nominate yourself or a colleague for the following NCFR leadership roles to begin in November 2024, following the annual conference:
- Conference Students and New Professionals Program Representative
- Elections Council Members
- Inclusion and Diversity Committee Members

- Conference Program Chair-Elect

Family Life Education CFLE Leaders Needed
for Immediate Openings
NCFR currently has six openings for Certified Family Life Educators (CFLEs) on CFLE-related boards and committees for terms beginning in 2023. Please consider applying by Jan. 13, 2023 for a position on one of them and help to lead our CFLE programming!
CFLE Advisory Board: One practitioner representative and two academic representatives are sought for this overarching leadership body of the CFLE program. The available positions are three-year terms.
CFLE Exam Committee: Three subject matter experts with experience working and teaching in the field of Family Life
Education are sought to review and continually update the CFLE Exam. Term lengths run from two to five-years.
Applications are due by Jan. 13, 2023.

Wadsworth Recognized for Outstanding Scholarship
This week, we recognize Shelley M. MacDermid Wadsworth, Ph.D., CFLE, recipient of the Ernest W. Burgess Award, which acknowledges the achievements of an NCFR member in their outstanding impact and commitment to the study of families.
The recipient is selected by NCFR’s Research and Theory Section in recognition of continuous and meritorious contributions to the area of theory and research in the family field.

NCFR's Journal of Family Theory & Review (JFTR) seeks manuscripts for a special issue
to be published in Dec. 2023.
Contemporary families are living in a context of unprecedented adversity at a global scale. We are being reminded, like in other adverse times in history, of how central families are to human functioning: they can be the source of vulnerability and also the source of one’s greatest resources and strengths.
This special issue aims at gathering international family scholars to reflect on our theoretical compasses for understanding and supporting families in these unpredictable and polarizing times.
Submission are due by Sunday, Jan. 15, 2023.
