Working papers on family theory and research methodology are reviewed, discussed, and strengthened in this unique, interactive environment. TCRM's unique purpose and format is designed to promote discussion and provide a forum for feedback that moves working papers and ideas forward.

Theme: Exploring Shifts in Work and Education
NCFR Nexus is a quarterly digital publication to serving NCFR’s transdisciplinary community of researchers, educators, practitioners, and policymakers. Access to Nexus is a benefit for NCFR members and Certified Family Life Educators (CFLEs), designed to encourage professional and transdisciplinary connection and dialogue.
This issue explores the impacts of recent shifts in work and education on individuals, families, and family professionals. The articles offer insights into how colleges and universities can meet the shifting needs of students, including students who parent, the potential cost of remote work for parents with children or others who need care in the home, and the benefits of creating mentorship programs that connect older adults and youth.

NCFR awards recognize those who further the interests of NCFR, and exemplify the standards to which members aspire. Award recipients are distinguished colleagues who have dedicated themselves to working in the family field and have achieved outstanding accomplishments.

Your Gift, Their Family Science Future
Over the past six years, 300 students have received the National Council on Family Relations (NCFR) Student Access Grant, opening doors to career-changing opportunities within Family Science.
This April, NCFR is working to raise $10,000 to support Students of Color in accessing professional development and advancement in the discipline.
With your help, the students will receive:
· Full access to the 2026 NCFR conference
· $500 travel stipend
· One-year NCFR membership (for first-time members)
Please consider donating. Every contribution, big or small, helps us create opportunities that might otherwise be out of reach. Just $5 from each NCFR member would reach our goal quickly. Together, we can empower the next generation of diverse Family Scientists.

Family Relations Seeks Early-Career Scholars for Editorial Fellowships
Apply by April 10, 2026
Early-career scholars are invited to apply for an Editorial Fellowship with NCFR’s Family Relations: Interdisciplinary Journal of Applied Family Science.
Fellows will develop experience with and skills in manuscript review, editorial processes, and evaluation of translational implications of research, and will become familiar with Family Science research from around the world.
Apply by April 10, 2026. Persons whose voices have historically been underrepresented are encouraged to apply.
Successful candidates will be notified by mid-April/early May 2026. Fellowships will run from June 1, 2026, to May 31, 2027, with the possibility of extending into a second year.

Theme: Ukrainian Forced Migrants' Transnational Families
Submit letters of intent by April 30 for an upcoming special section of NCFR's Family Relations: Interdisciplinary Journal of Applied Family Science (FR), themed "Ukrainian Forced Migrants’ Transnational Families: New Relationality and Shared Agency."
Ukrainian forced migrants’ transnational families are among the most rapidly studied displaced populations, and their circumstances have continued to evolve. This special section will provide a framework for understanding Ukrainian forced migrants’ transnational families; enable practitioners to learn about the specificities that matter in applied work; inform policy; and support intervention.
For authors invited to submit, manuscripts will be due Sept. 30, 2026.

The summer 2026 issue of NCFR Nexus will explore family communication and conflict resolution using the broadest possible definition of "family."
