Empowering Women and Families: Community Voices From Greater Baltimore

Thursday, Nov. 20, 1:15 - 2:30 p.m. ET

Hosted by the NCFR Affiliate Councils Board in partnership with the Mid-Atlantic Council on Family Relations, this session spotlights the voices of local organizations making a difference for women and families, including Sincerely, Divorced; Good Ground Coffee Company; and the Sandra R. Berman Center for Humanity, Tolerance, and Holocaust Education.


In addition to hearing powerful stories and practical insights from the people at the heart of these organizations, attendees will be invited to participate in the #RedSandProject, a global movement raising awareness about human trafficking and exploitation. Learn more.

All NCFR members are invited to attend the annual member meeting virtually via Zoom the week prior to the NCFR Annual Conference, to hear updates on NCFR’s activities, ask questions, and recognize colleagues' accomplishments.


Included on the agenda will be a time for questions and comments on proposed bylaws revision and a breakout discussion on NCFR's Ends. 


No signup or NCFR conference registration is needed to attend this free meeting.

Fall 2025 – Privilege


Introducing NCFR Nexus, a quarterly digital publication to serve serve NCFR’s transdisciplinary community of researchers, educators, practitioners, and policymakers. Access to Nexus is a benefit for NCFR members and Certified Family Life Educators (CFLEs), designed to encourage professional and transdisciplinary connection and dialogue.


The articles in this issue explore the concept of privilege, which is impacted by intersectional characteristics of one’s identity (e.g., race, gender, religion, sexuality, ability), as well as access to resources such as higher education or supportive family relationships.

Transgender Day of Remembrance: Nov. 20


The Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR), observed annually on Nov. 20, coincides with Thursday at the 2025 NCFR Annual Conference.

TDOR is an opportunity for individuals and communities to gather to remember transgender people, gender-diverse individuals, and people perceived to be transgender who have been murdered because of hate. Here is how you can participate at NCFR 2025:

  • Attend the Remembrance Ceremony, 8:30 – 9:15 a.m. in Grand Ballroom 4. A candlelight reading of names of those who have lost their lives in the last year because of hate.

  • Visit the Wall of Remembrance (location TBA) to learn more about TDOR and take or leave notes of affirmation. 

Trans flag pins will be available at the Ribbon Wall near registration.

Explore Charm City at NCFR 2025


The Baltimore Marriott Waterfront is the headquarters for the 2025 NCFR Annual Conference. All presentations, meetings, poster sessions, exhibits, and events will be held at this location.


The hotel is ideally situated in the walkable Harbor East neighborhood with views of both the harbor and city skyline and easily accessible to the Inner Harbor, National Aquarium, Fells Point, Little Italy, and other area points of interest. 


NCFR has curated a Conference Guide for Fun and suggested Baltimore outings. There are also more than dozen dining options close to the hotel.

The Office of Outreach and Engagement at Texas Teach University seeks a full-time, 12-month Assistant/Associate Professor of Practice and Executive Director for the Center for Junction beginning Jan. 1, 2025. The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate and/or graduate-level courses in an online format. In addition, the position includes administrative responsibilities to oversee the Outdoor Learning Lab, professional staff at Junction, the Junction Conference Center, and all activities related to facilitating and maintaining outreach and engagement partnerships, including K-12 partnerships and STEM activities and programs.

The Department of Child, Youth, and Family Studies (CYAF) seeks a full-time, tenure-track (9-month appointment) assistant professor with a focus in the areas of rural mental health and/or substance use to begin August 2026.
