Conference Workshops Just Announced: Ambiguous Loss Workshop with Pauline Boss
Saturday, Nov. 19, 2022 / 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. CT $149 for NCFR members / $189 for nonmembers (lunch included) Hilton Minneapolis / 2022 NCFR Annual Conference
NCFR has added a postconference workshop to its conference lineup on ambiguous loss theory with Pauline Boss, Ph.D., who first pioneered this theory.
The goal of this workshop is to equip a new generation of qualified ambiguous loss experts, using a "train the trainers" approach. It is intended for family therapists, clinicians, and other educators already familiar with the basics of ambiguous loss theory and ready for case study applications.

The Impact of NCFR's Student Access Grant: Stories of a Difference Made Make a Donation by Monday, Sept. 12
Thanks to our generous Student Access Grant donors, over $1700 has been raised this year to fund conference registration fees, a travel stipend, and one year of NCFR membership for students from historically marginalized racial communities.
We are close to meeting our goal to provide grants to 4 Students of Color. With your help we can exceed this goal.
If every NCFR member gave $10 we would be able to fund every student who applies this year.
Time to support this important initiative is running out. Please make your donation to the Student Access Grant by Monday, Sept. 12.

Certified Family Life Educator Credential CFLE Exam to be Administered at NCFR Conference — Apply by Sept. 15
An opportunity for CFLE applicants to take the CFLE Exam will take place during the 2022 NCFR Annual Conference at 8 a.m. CST on Wednesday, Nov. 16 at the Minneapolis Hilton Hotel in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Apply to take the on-site CFLE Exam by Sept. 15, 2022.

Family Science News Georgia Southern Changes Program Name to Include 'Family Science'
NCFR is pleased to share that Georgia Southern University has changed the name of its major and minor to Human Development and Family Science (previously Child and Family Development). The HDFS – Family Services concentration — which is a CFLE-approved degree program — is also available fully online.

Family Science
Deadline Extended to Sept. 9, 2022
NCFR, in partnership with publisher Cognella, is accepting submissions and nominations for the Cognella Innovation in Teaching Award for Family Science.
The award celebrates outstanding higher education instructors in Family Science who bring innovation, passion, and personal drive for excellence to their teaching practices each and every day.
The first-place recipient of the award will receive a $1,000 cash prize, and the second-place winner will receive a $500 Cognella book credit.

Zippy's Video of the Week Queen Elizabeth II Dies Aged 96
F Queen Elizabeth II, the longest-reigning monarch in British history, has died, Buckingham Palace has announced. She became Queen in 1952 at the age of 25 and spent 70 years on the throne.
The royal family announced her death online, saying she had “died peacefully.” The announcement did not specify a cause.
