Upcoming Webinar How Transracial Adoptive Families Can Acknowledge and Navigate RaceTuesday, April 9 / 11 a.m. – Noon CT Presented by: Katie M. Hrapczynski, Ph.D., LCMFT Transracial adoptive families can challenge traditional expectations of familial connections, raising important questions about the intersection of race, ethnicity, and nationality. In the context of the United States — where transracial adoptive families often involve White parents raising children of different racial backgrounds — concerns about meeting the developmental needs of these children are prevalent. However, many practitioners voice concern over feeling ill-prepared to work with transracial adoptive families. To best serve transracial families, practitioners must confront their personal beliefs and biases and become well-versed in the common and unique circumstances of transracial adoptive
families.
Katie M. Hrapczynski, Ph.D., LCMFT, will discuss the historical context of transracial adoptions while also exploring individual factors, family dynamics, and environmental conditions that impact the well-being of transracial adoptees and their families. By the end of this webinar, attendees will possess a nuanced understanding of the complexities inherent in transracial adoptive families and will have practical tools to enhance supporting transracial adoptive families.
Approved for 1.0 hour of CFLE continuing education.LEARN MORE & REGISTER

Helping Professionals Utilize Microskills to Promote Engagement Monday,
April 22, 11 a.m. – Noon CT Presented by: Rachel Tambling, Ph.D., LMFT; and Carissa D’Aniello-Heyda, Ph.D., LMFT
Microskills refer to specific communication techniques and strategies that are employed to establish rapport and effectively interact with families.
These skills are essential in everyday interactions and significantly influence how we communicate, solve problems, work together, and handle tasks when engaging with families. Despite their significance, the development of these skills is often overlooked or undervalued.
Join Rachel Tambling, Ph.D., LMFT, and Carissa D'Aniello-Heyda, Ph.D., LMFT, as they introduce various microskills through demonstrations. Participants will practice microskills during the webinar and be better equipped to develop productive helping relationships with families and
